Is there any woman who does not like to look great at formal events? Well, you already know this is a rhetorical question.
I’ve been thinking about weddings and social occasions where you have to look super fancy and dolled up.
Consequently, I have given myself the task of looking for dazzling wedding guest dresses you can rock.
Let me tell you, these dress options are adorable and jaw-dropping.
The three crucial dress codes required for weddings I’m considering here are black-tie, cocktail, and casual or beach weddings.
Of course, the first and foremost recommendation when choosing your wedding guest outfit is to know your body type and what suits you. Other essential factors include comfort, dress fabric, level of formality, and the wedding venue, among others.
Before moving on to our dazzling wedding guest dresses, I would first like to review some dress codes for women when it comes to weddings (I’m sure you already know most of them).
We can screw it up with an inappropriate outfit when we attend a wedding simply for not doing our homework beforehand.
That is why I have briefly compiled some essential wedding attire tips for women worth keeping in mind.
Wedding Attire Tips & Dress Code For Females
- Check the wedding website if they have one; Also, check the time and location of the wedding to find out more about what to wear that day in case they didn’t specify it in the invitation.
- It is forbidden to wear white or any other pale color (ivory, cream) regardless of the level of formality of the wedding.
- Another thing you should avoid is wearing ostentatious outfits that call too much attention to you. For this reason, some etiquette experts believe you should skip red wedding dresses because of the striking color. Sincerely, I’m biased regarding red since it is one of my favorite colors, but don’t listen to me.
- Overly sexy or revealing guest outfits are also on the denylist of wedding etiquette. You better save showing off that toned body for another time.
- In some countries and places in the US, wearing black can also be frowned upon as it alludes to funerals. However, this is one of the colors most used by wedding guests due to the class and elegance it conveys.
Wedding Guest Dress Etiquette
- Do not dress in the same colors and style as the bridal party. Surely you don’t want to be mistaken for one of the bridesmaids.
- The Brides website states that formal attire is the most common wedding dress code.
- White tie is the most formal wedding attire possible, and women should wear a formal floor-length evening gown, no exceptions. Pair your dress with jewelry, heels, and an elegant clutch.
- When the dress code is Black-tie or formal, it usually means that the wedding is an elegant event. Women should wear a formal floor-length gown, a sophisticated cocktail dress, or elegant pantsuits.
- The attire for a cocktail wedding is less formal and allows more flexibility and fun. Nordstrom experts say that women can wear a short or long dress as long as it is elegant. For example, a little black dress would perfectly fit this type of wedding.
- Regarding the casual dress code or beach wedding, you can wear more relaxed outfits like sundresses and cute sandals. However, keep yourself from going too far. It is best to stay away from jeans, flip-flops, and short pants. One crucial recommendation is to avoid stilettos on the beach, opting for sleek flat sandals.
With all that cleared up, let’s look at these dazzling wedding guest dresses.
Gorgeous Wedding Guest Dresses
Black-tie Wedding
Oh boy! I love this off-shoulder dress’s flowy style, and the side split that gives it that cute and sensual air. You can actually wear this dress for a black tie and a beach wedding, depending on the footwear and adornments you pair it with. It is true to size and has some stretch, so comfort is another plus for this cute dress.
This A-line maxi dress with a halter neck is gorgeous to say the least and will make you stand out. The high and fitted waist makes it very flattering to the silhouette. Complete the look with elegant earrings, heels, and a clutch bag.
Sophistication and sensuality are what this one shoulder velvet dress screams. I love the ruched detail, the thigh split, and how the fabric hugs and sculpts the silhouette. Add heels and fancy accessories, then get ready to turn heads.
Cocktail Wedding
This plunging midi dress combines elements that I love, starting with its fit and flare style that is so flattering for any body type. It’s so beautiful, and the sequin lace gives it an elegant and delicate look. Another touch that adds up: being a fit and flare dress, it has enough room for the hips.
Hands down this is another perfect option for a spring-summer cocktail wedding. This satin sheen midi dress will make you feel glamorous despite its simplicity. Or perhaps that is where its charm lies. I love the cowl neckline and the asymmetrical hem. The fabric does not have stretch, which you should consider when choosing your size. Put on your best shapewear underneath, and get ready to shine with this killing dress.
Casual or Beach Wedding
Here you have an ideal beach or tropical destination wedding dress. What I love about this floral pattern dress is the backless design, halter neck, and it couldn’t be any other way, thigh-high slit. Pair it with some sleek flat sandals, and you are ready to go.
The first thing that caught my attention about this dress was its vibrant color and flowing fabric. I include it in this section because it gives me a beachy vibe. It is a bit see-through, so I wouldn’t choose it for a formal event, but for a beach wedding or a casual event, you surely will look stunning. Other plus points are the deep V-neckline with crossed straps at the back and the flowy maxi skirt with two slits. I love it!
Here’s another cute, solid dress for a spring or summer beach wedding. I love the halter neck and the dress’s functionality to highlight your waist with its straps. It is a lovely A-line dress that I would definitely wear not only for a beach wedding but also for another casual event.
I hope you enjoyed these dazzling wedding guest dresses as much as I did. A plus-size version of this post will follow soon.
